In conducting Kids Soccer Drills , there is always someone to guide you all the time, no matter where you are. You are not alone. Coaches all over the world face this situation where everyone gets to them with a tip or trick. The issue with such tips is their unreliability and practicability. It is therefore very annoying to hear and discuss such tips which are irrelevant.
The coaches must take youth soccer drills very seriously and give no heed to such suggestions. You must apply only those tactics which have been positively tested or are result oriented. There are certain guidelines given below that will be effective in communicating with the players.
Convey definite instruction to kids. It’s a bad idea to impart too many instructions in a single session. It not only confuses them but also obstructs their learning. They cannot understand the intent of the instruction, fail to execute it properly, and in the end get frustrated. It’s therefore failure on your part as a coach.
Therefore, draw a plan. Incorporate in it a few clear cut orders. Ensure that the instructions are simple to understand and carry out. In soccer drills for kids, doing individual training sessions is also possible. The kids therefore have the advantage of learning the basics of the game easily. This allows them to develop a feeling of belongingness with the team.
But do remember that you have combined both group and individual activities in the practice sessions as soccer is a team game.
Keep the training sessions short in kids soccer drills. If they are long, the students are very likely to get bored as well as exhausted at the end of it. Short and simple is the key here. In an ideal world, such a session should not be more than a couple of hours. In these sessions, make sure that you have a mix of drills and games that engage the kids.
It is important not to rush through simple and advanced drills when delivering soccer drills for youth. You will learn that all the kids pick up skills at different degrees. Some are quick learners while others take time. It is all right. If it requires that you divide the boys into batches to make things even, it is good enough. It will not do any good to hurry through the sessions or castigate the kids.
Know that boys play soccer because they want to enjoy it. It is vital that the learning is a part of the fun.
In the end, make soccer activities such as controlling the ball, passing, receiving, dribbling, shooting and so on a regular part of the drills. While it is always a good idea to include other games also in the sessions, it is important to keep the focus on soccer in whatever they do.
